Rate Requests Overview

In early 2012, KCP&L filed a rate increase request in each of our service areas in Missouri and Kansas. These requests reflect the actual costs to serve our customers in each of our service areas. Below is a map of our four service areas.

On December 13, 2012, the Kansas Corporation Commission issued the order to change rates for our Kansas service area effective January 1, 2013.

On January 9, 2013, the Missouri Public Service Commission issued the order to change rates for our Missouri service areas.

* A typical residential customer in Missouri uses a monthly average of 1150 kWh in the summer and 760 kWh in the winter. In Kansas, a typical residential customers uses a monthly average of 1490 kWh in the summer and 800 kWh in the winter.
