Weatherization for Qualified Homes

Eligibility

For Homeowners and Renters within the KCP&L service territory and Weatherization Agency territory

Homeowners:

  • Household earnings at or below the current income guidelines (see chart below)
  • Owner of the home has received electric service from KCP&L for a minimum of one year immediately preceding the date of application
  • Household energy consumption greater than 3,000 kWh per year
  • Applicant has made attempts to maintain a payment history, no matter how small

Renters:

Same as for homeowners (above), plus:

  • Must be fully responsible for the payment of electricity bills
  • Landlord agrees under contract with the CAP agency to:
    • Pay no less than 50% of the total cost of the conservation measures
    • Not raise the rent for at least two years from the date of completion of installation of the energy conservation measures

Income Eligibility Guidelines

Household income cannot exceed the income levels listed below to be eligible for the Weatherization Services Program. These levels represent 200% of Federal Poverty Income Guidelines.
