Home Improvement Rebate with ENERGY STAR®

Customer Benefits

Lower Utility Bills

Energy-efficient homes cost less to heat and cool.  Energy-efficiency improvements eliminate drafts, cold spots and overheated rooms to provide immediate results in terms of lower utility bills and added value to your home.

You can save 30 - 40% on your heating and cooling costs depending on your home's design, size and your personal energy use.

Comfortable Rooms

After making improvements, homeowners report reduced dust and more comfortable temperatures and humidity levels. An energy-efficient home stays warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Environmental Benefits

When you use less energy, you decrease the release of carbon emissions, in the air making you more environmentally responsible.

  • The average home is responsible for twice as much air pollution as the average car. If one household in 10 used ENERGY STAR heating and cooling equipment, the change would prevent 17 billion pounds of air pollution and save about $1 billion in electricity costs.
  • An average of 23,000 pounds of carbon dioxide (the gas thought to be primarily responsible for global warming) are emitted annually by each American home.
  • For every kilowatt hour of electricity saved, you prevent about 2 ½ pounds of carbon dioxide from being emitted. You also help prevent sulfur dioxide and nitrous oxide (a gas that creates smog) from being released.

KCP&L will give you a rebate that covers a significant amount of the assessment and the first improvement.
