Customer Assistance Programs

KCP&L's Economic Relief Program

The ERP program allows a credit of up to $50 per month, for a maximum of twelve consecutive months, for qualified Missouri customers in need of financial assistance to pay their electric bill.

Currently, the number of participants is limited to 2,000. Contact The Salvation Army at 1 (877) 566-2769, Ext. 416 for availability information.

Please note: The 2,000 openings are divided equally between the KCP&L service territory in Missouri and the KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company service territory. KCP&L will not maintain a waiting list. If no openings are available. customers who have applied for the program will receive a denial letter. If a customer is denied because the program is full, the customer may periodically check with The Salvation Army via the toll-free hotline 1 (877) 566-2769, Ext. 416 to inquire about openings.

    Program Requirements
  • You must be a Missouri residential customer
  • You must be current on your KCP&L bill (includes payment arrangement with KCP&L or pending grant)
  • You must have no history of tampering, fraud or diversion with KCP&L
  • Your income must be at or below 185% of the federal poverty level

Salvation Army is assisting KCP&L with the screening and application process.  Please call 1(877) 566-2769, Ext. 416 to request an application by mail, or visit one of the Salvation Army satellite locations to make an appointment.
