Is the ESNH program still available in Missouri?
Yes. The ESNH program is still available in Missouri and there are no changes currently contemplated. KCP&L will continue to provide an $800 rebate to Builders and $750 to Raters for completion of an Energy Star rated home. In addition to single family homes, multi-family buildings greater than three stories qualify and must be compliant with Energy Star guidelines. In addition, there is an annual maximum imposed in Missouri of $500,000 for each builder or for each development.
I am a Builder and have engaged with a Rater to certify that my home(s) in Kansas are built to the Energy Star standards. Upon completion of my home(s), will KCP&L reimburse me $800?
KCP&L will only honor commitments on qualifying Energy Star homes that have been permitted in Kansas within 30 days of the KCC ruling.
I am a Rater and have been working with a Builder to certify their home in Kansas as Energy Star. Will KCP&L reimburse me the $750?
KCP&L will only honor commitments on qualifying Energy Star homes that have been permitted within 30 days of KCC approval. Builders will then have a grace period of up to six months from the date of KCC approval to complete construction and have their homes rated.
How do I request my rebate?
A Rater should submit an invoice, the Home Energy Rating certificate, and the Energy Star Qualified Home certificate to EnergyStarNewHomes@kcpl.com.
A Builder should submit an invoice and a completed rebate application to EnergyStarNewHomes@kcpl.com.
If the Rater has not yet submitted the Home Energy Rater certificate yet, KCP&L may also request a copy from the Builder. This process should also be followed for homes being constructed in Missouri.
How long will it take to receive my rebate?
Generally, it takes approximately three weeks to receive your rebate once it is submitted to EnergyStarNewHomes@kcpl.com.

In the past, I have received my rebate in the form of a check. Can my rebate be deposited electronically to my bank account?
Yes. Upon submittal of your invoice, please provide your bank name, ABA number, and account number. When payment is made electronically, KCP&L will send an e-mail to the person that you have designated. The e-mail will show the amount deposited and your invoice number associated with the payment.
Will I be required to follow the Version 2.5 and 3.0 guidelines?
Yes. The guidelines required by Energy Star for home compliance will be changing this year. The implementation dates vary for Version 2.5 and 3.0 for single family homes and multi-family buildings. Please seek assistance from a Rater to understand the changes.
You may also visit the Energy Star website for additional information on the implementation schedule and guidelines. The website address is: www.energystar.gov
Who can I contact to discuss any outstanding questions?
