KCP&L Business Energy Efficiency Rebates - Custom

The Business Energy Efficiency Rebates - Custom Program provides customers with financial incentives for installing qualifying electricity savings measures including HVAC systems, motors, variable speed drives, lighting, building controls, pumps, etc. Energy efficiency measures must be installed in an existing facility to qualify for this program. Customers may apply for individual or multiple efficiency measures within the same facility.

Small General Service Customers first will be evaluated to determine eligibility for the Business Energy Efficiency Rebates - Standard Program. If eligible, standard rebates will apply.

All custom rebates are analyzed individually to ensure that they pass the Societal Benefit/Cost Test. Any measure that is pre-approved (evaluated prior to being installed) must produce a Societal Benefit/Cost Test result of 1.0 or higher. In addition, the project's incremental payback must be greater than two years. Projects that started or have been completed prior to pre-approval are not eligible for a rebate.

Custom rebates are calculated as the lesser of

• A buydown to a two year payback, OR
• 50% of the incremental cost

One customer may submit multiple rebate applications for different measures. Each individual measure will be evaluated on its own merits. Similar measures that are proposed in different facilities or buildings will be evaluated separately.

Special Information for Kansas Customers

The Missouri Public Service Commission has given KCP&L approval to offer rebates for our Missouri customers. KCP&L would like to offer these programs in Kansas as well. However, there are a variety of opinions in the community about the best way to proceed. We will continue to work with State Legislation until we find a framework that provides benefits for all stakeholders. We are committed to energy efficiency and plan to offer programs like the Business Energy Efficiency Rebates when that framework is in place.
