Commercial and Industrial Rebates - Missouri Customers Only

What is it?

These energy efficiency programs help reduce operating costs and increase efficiency - necessary for operating any successful businesses - by providing incentives that lower the cost of identifying and purchasing energy-efficient equipment for use in your facilities.

Equipment eligible for rebates include high-efficiency lighting, air conditioning, heating systems, motors, refrigeration, energy management systems, etc.

Special Information for Kansas Customers:
For Kansas customers, the C&I Rebate pilot program has ended. KCP&L wants to continue our pilot programs and make them permanent. However, there are a variety of opinions in the community about the best way to proceed. Therefore, we are allowing C&I Rebates to reach its natural conclusion as a pilot program until we can work with parties to find a framework that provides benefits for all stakeholders. We remain committed to energy efficiency and hope to offer this or a similar program when that framework is in place.

We have filed with the Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) to end the C&I Rebates pilot program in Kansas. While we anticipate the process will be finalized with a KCC ruling within 30-60 days, it could take longer. Therefore, we cannot provide exact dates for when program changes will take place. However, the following table outlines a relative timeline.

Day of KCC approval 30 days after KCC approval
Applications for pre-approval must be submitted within 30 days of KCC approval of KCP&L’s filing. All projects pre-approved within the 30-day grace period or before must be completed within the normal six-month window to be eligible for rebate. Projects completed after the six-month window will not receive a rebate.

The above table is current as of 4/15/2011

Commercial/Industrial Energy Audit

An Energy Audit helps identify ways to improve your facility's energy efficiency. Customers who have an energy audit performed by a KCP&L-certified auditor are eligible for a rebate that covers up to 50% of the cost of the audit. Rebates are provided once you install energy-efficient equipment that is recommended in the Audit Report.

Commercial/Industrial Rebate Programs

KCP&L provides rebates when you purchase high-efficiency equipment for your facilities. Not only do you receive monetary incentives from KCP&L toward purchases, but you also lower your energy costs. There are three rebate programs designed to fit your needs:

  • Custom Rebate for Retrofits - Any customer who plans to replace equipment in an existing facility with high-efficiency equipment can obtain a custom rebate for a retrofit project. You can also apply for individual efficiency measures, or combine energy-efficiency measures and equipment in any way that makes sense for your facility.

  • Prescriptive Rebates - Small-business customers who are on KCP&L's Small General Service rate (SGS) can apply for rebates from a pre-qualified list of energy-efficiency measures.

  • Custom Rebate for New Construction - KCP&L can work with you to develop an energy-efficiency plan designed for your new building or major renovation. Individual or combined energy-efficiency measures are eligible. In all cases the program is designed to complement your needs and time schedule.

All KCP&L Energy Efficiency Programs for Businesses are designed to add value - not time or complexity.
